State Rep. Joseph G. Pavlov earlier this month welcomed a local first responder to the state Capitol to help mark the anniversary of September 11, 2001 and remember the first responders from Michigan who passed away in the line of duty.
The Michigan House of Representatives holds a ceremony every year on September 11 where legislators invite local first responders to commemorate 9-11. Representatives also read the names of local first responders who gave their lives in the line of duty over the past year to honor their memory and their sacrifice.
Pavlov’s guest was Kenneth A. Cummings, the President and CEO of Tri-Hospital EMS in Port Huron. Tri-Hospital EMS has been serving the area for more than 40 years and is the largest EMS provider in the area.
“Tri-Hospital EMS are the people we call when lives are on the line and every second counts,” said Pavlov. “Our first responders rush into danger so the rest of us can rest easy, and I’m glad we had the opportunity to honor that commitment and that bravery. This annual ceremony is a good reminder of the courage and dedication of Michigan’s first responders and of our responsibility to never forget.”
