Rep. Woolford welcomes Vice President JD Vance to Howell Michigan
RELEASE|September 22, 2025

State Rep. Jason Woolford (R-Howell) welcomed Vice President JD Vance to Michigan on Wednesday, where Woolford had the honor of opening the event with remarks focused on service, accountability, and protecting working families.

“It was an honor to open for Vice President JD Vance,” said Woolford. “I had the privilege to speak about putting people before politics, and that is exactly what the Vice President represents. His dedication to restoring American strength, protecting our freedoms, and standing up for hardworking families is why I was proud to welcome him to Michigan.”

Vice President Vance visited a local precision metal stamping facility in Howell as part of a national tour promoting the Trump administration’s new tax and spending-cut initiative, officially titled the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The legislation aims to reduce government waste, support American manufacturing, and bring meaningful economic relief to working families.

During his speech, the Vice President addressed Michigan’s ongoing economic challenges and rising concerns about public safety. He expressed support for deploying the National Guard to Detroit if requested by Governor Whitmer, citing what he called a serious increase in crime. He also emphasized the administration’s commitment to revitalizing industry, protecting American jobs, and putting families first. Vance concluded his remarks by honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, recognizing his lasting impact on the conservative movement.

“We are working to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in Michigan, just like they are in Washington,” said Woolford. “But cultural responsibility is just as real as fiscal responsibility. If we balance the books but lose our faith, our families, and our freedoms, then we have lost everything that truly matters. We are in a fight for principle. We are fighting for the families trying to pay their bills and raise their children. From the White House to the state house, we are bringing accountability.”
